Cambodia’s National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin met in Phnom Penh on June 3 with Mr. Surya Prasad Subedi, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights to Cambodia.

Ten government institutions and non-governmental organizations gathered here on June 2 at the Planning Workshop on Strengthening ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response Partnerships in Cambodia.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will make a decision on Cambodia’s request for conservatory measures for the Khmer sacred Preah Vihear Temple within 40 to 45 days.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation told reporters here this morning at Phnom Penh International Airport upon his return from The Hague, Netherlands, where he attended the ICJ’s public hearing on the issue of Preah Vihear Temple on May 30-31.

Tourism Minister H.E. Thong Khon is optimistic about an increase of tourists in the coastal areas in Cambodia, saying that the number will rise from 6 to 10 percent.

The minister told reporters on May 30 that his optimism about the increase is on account of the assistance from the World’s Most Beautiful Bay Club after Cambodia’s coastline officially recognized and the great effort made by Cambodia in broadcasting tourism.

The National Specifications Laboratory of Cambodian Rubber Research Center has got a certificate of ISO/IEC 17025:2005 on rubber quality control earlier this week.

Mr. Yin Song, Director of the Cambodian Rubber Research Institute said the certification will promote Cambodian rubber product at the international markets.
